I don't have one, in a sense, but I've heard air fryers are a fancy name for convection ovens. I've got a pellet grill and one of these days I'm gonna try an air fryer recipe int it.

This is the one I have and I love it. The broil function actually works better than my oven, but the function I use the most is the proof function.

Ninja something or other seesm to be the current one that pops up on the telly.

Someone round here has one and likes it.

Like halogen ovens I'd get one with a stirrer to guarentee equal all round food cooking.
The cheapo ones don't have the motorised stirrers or otisserie attachments.

We just got that same one and love it so far. We have only done french fries and salmon so far but both were fantastic.

Pretty similar. I think my air fryer moves the air a lot faster than my convection oven does though. It's more like a convection toaster oven, with a beefed up fan.

That said, the air fryer is the most used appliance in my kitchen. The kids use it at least 3 or 4 times a day to make fries or chicken strips, etc. We couldn't be without one now.

Totally. In a tiny little oven with a decent fan that gets really hot (ie air fryer, and I swear the fan in my little air fryer is as powerful as my full-sized oven, but granted, the oven was an overly priced POS that came with the house) you're getting a lot more bang for the buck.

And doing stuff like leftover fries or any kind of leftover crispy-type food? Totally worth it, particularly if it multi-tasks.

The only thing I would add is if it is one of the more powerful ones, they do recommend you have a relatively dedicated circuit. Ours isn't (just due to our kitchen layout) so we have to be mindful not to run it on full power as the same time as the microwave

I was gifted one and I like it but it seems to me that it's a miny convection oven. Good luck finding the one you want.

Just saw this and I think you'll be happy and more importantly, so will the Mrs.

As for wings, yes, they are excellent. In fact, doing them tonight. Here's an example:

Thanks Pete. Went to Best Buy & they had a Breville Pro ($279) which I really liked as far as build quality & appearance goes & they had 1 unopened left. Asked the salesperson helping me to get it off the shelf. He did & we checked it oot. It Did Not come with an air fryer screen rack. He searched & was unable to figure oot if they could be purchased separately (I'm guessing inside there were instructions on ordering them ) so decided against that unit. Also, a little thing that I was OK with, butt not the wife unit, was it Did Not have a setting that said "Air Fry" mode or similar. For whatever reason, she is weird aboot that kinda thing. Her friends have units that have "Air Fry", but this one did not. So, that didn't work & we (she ) are on to the next unit
Thanks for all th input & keep you posted (if interested )

You were looking at another model. The one I was referring to has an airfry selection and the mesh tray. It's basically $400. The $279 one is the baby brother to this one:

                              https://www.amazon.com/Breville-BOV9.../dp/B01N5UPTZS

You'll probably see the model you were looking at above and to the left in the Amazon link.

When I got our, I bought it thru Bed Bath and Beyond and used one of their 20% off coupons and it shipped free. They now exclude this model from the coupon unfortunately.
