Hey everyone...New to this site and like what I'm seeing. I do however need some help. I have a local wood vender who offered to deliver some bbq smoking and fire pit wood to my house. But he delivered while I was not home and I have no clue as to which is what. I'm used to opening bags of "wood chunks" from the store and they are clearly marked. The wood with the plastic around it in the first pic was already there and was bought as fire wood. Thanks for the info...

Welcome to Smoked-Meat first off.
Hmm pretty characteristic of a fruit wood. A better shot of the bark may help, but with the coloring, I'd venture cherry or perhaps apricot..if that's local. In God I trust- All others pay cash...Check out the Mad Hunky and products at https://madhunkymeats.com or https://www.facebook.com/MadHunkyMeats

From the looks of the logs in pic #2 I would say that is mesquite wood due to the red center and the logs are smooth due to being old... Looks like the one log ontop has had some beetle damage under the bark.. Best way to tell is to knock off a small chunk of the bark and burn it.. If it smells like rat piss you have mesquite..
The others to me look like Oak of some type, could be post oak.. But pics of the bark are important..Ken

Lets just say it's great for grilling but smoking can be VERY strong.. Some swear by it, you really have to learn how to use it so you do not waste a good cut of beef..Ken
