We have 240 acres in Michigan's U.P. that has a trout river flowing through it. Half the river flows through cedar swamps and the other half through tag alder marshes. Is the 2-3" diameter tag alders the same wood that folks use to smoke with? I've never seen any other type of alder.

I think it's still used, John. Dunno if it's the same, but I'm pretty sure that's the wood they use at the Indian River smokehouse. Is that Indian River Michigan Rich, as in up south of the bridge?
