  • Grilled Halibut.....

Yeah, so I never really do halibut because it's always so expensive. For some reason, it's on sale for $14 # out here and I have a buddy who works for the store. He said he could get me more if I wanted it. After tonight, that's a resounding Yes!!!!

I did a hot sear on the fish, 90 seconds both sides and then 3-4 minutes on med-low heat on the grill. My gasser is perfect for this as it has 4 burners and cast iron grates. So, I can do a two zone cook easily.

The Mrs. made up some regular rice and some other rice. I took some of each but added some asian hot sauce to the regular rice.

All I can say, this was an out of this world meal. The sauce I used on the fish and the grill was a homerun. Everyone absolutely loved this. It's now the fish of choice in the household. My favorite fish was alway Orange Roughy but I have to jump and make that number 2.

    Some proof:

Thanks for looking and as my family is really on the health kick, especially the athlete boys, this works on so many levels.

    Fabulous Pete!
That's a grate price also. Last I saw here was $22lb, but thank God Copper River salmon is here/coming.... I heard upwards of $50 lb NO THANKS.

What did you glaze it with? Looks super

      Thanks Scott,

This stuff rocks. I'll try it with other fish as well. For the halibut, I hit it every time I turned it which wasn't much. 90 seconds per side on the sear and then 3-4 minutes on the cook.

      Here's the goo:

      2 tablespoons butter melted
      2 tablespoons honey
      1/2 lemon juiced
      2 teaspoons soy sauce
      1/2 teaspoon pepper
      2 cloves garlic minced
      1 pound fresh halibut filet

Nice one Pete. We cant get good seafood in Oklahoma right now. Just finished off two gallons of crappie fillets but even our local fresh water fish appear to be social distancing! Looks really good.

Safeway had fresh halibut for $9.99lb a week ago. A benefit from the restaurant closures. Called my Mom and she scored. I didn't need any. A couple weeks ago I took a road trip to meet a friend half way where she gave us 25lbs of really nice thick AK cod. Her son works on a research fishing boat in AK and she's got a freezer full. I did give her the rest of my bacon and bratts in exchange.

And then last week Fred Myer had whole Sockeye for 3.99lb - head off. Didn't need any of that. I assume it was last years fish.

I agree, bought another 3#'s today and cleaned out the counter. Last day of the sale is tomorrow so I'll rinse and repeat

Vac packing is a life saver for this sort of thing.
