  • What is the best meat thermometer?

I have about half a dozen of these things. Everything from little dials to wireless ones that show a digital cow on them. At any given time, some work perfect, and others spit out numbers from outer space. Thats if I can even find the thing or batteries. I pick them up everywhere because they dont seem to last long. Maybe im just too hard on them. Anyways, I want one good reliable thermometer. I dont mind dropping the extra funds on it, i just dont know wich one. What do you guys like?

This is the begining of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can wast it or use it for good. What you do today is important because younare exchanging a day for your life. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind....let it be something good.

    THERMOWORKS THERMAPEN INSTANT READ THERMOMETER

    $96.00

This has worked the best for our team. Quick to read and temps are right on the mark.

IMO, after you know how to properly run your smoker tempwise, a Thermopen is the best I've seen. About 90 bucks.

My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

The thermapen is great for instant read of meat temps. If you are looking to monitor the meat temp & cooker temp with one thermometer I like the maverick ET 732.

X2. Or 3. Wasted a lot of time and money on others. Those two will cover most backyard Qer's needs.

I bought the ET-732 and length of probes that come with are to short if you use in a Yoder Wichita, but you can buy the 6 foot ones for 20 bucks apiece which bummed me out why they don't tell what length comes with them I don't under stand. after using about four or five times the receiver would not shut off now I just take the battery's out to shut off. the alarm is not very loud I can't here it if I am over 3 feet from. it is accurate

if I had the money I would try the new dule probe thermoworks with K probes

Thermoworks thermapen is the answer. The real question is what color is the fastest, but we have proven through exhaustive research, field trials, and laboratory tests that the red thermapen is indeed the one to beat.

Oh, and if you are looking for a stem type thermometer for your pit, then the correct answer is tel-tru. None better.

As has been said, Maverick ET-732 for monitoring or long cooks you would like temp alarms set for napping; Thermapen for spot on detail temps as you get comfortable with whatever your cooking.

I thought this was settled long ago... It's the blistering fast black thermapen withoot a doubt.

Grey Thermapens are by far the quickest in the lot of therms! just wanted to steer you in the right direction before these guys get you confused.
