Yes you need a 1/2 inch drill or a quality 3/8 with a 2 speed gearing that many have would probably work too, but I found that more than 10pounds gets to be some labor on the drill, 15 pounds is do-able, but 20 pounds was a drill death wish on the harbor freight drill i have.
The paint mixer is where I got the idea from actually, but the paint surface and possible rust if removed afterwards made me just build one from stainless. But i do think the one you posted would work, but the rust is the problem, and the zinc coated one you have to worry about zinc flaking as I think it is poison to us if ingested.
I hesitated on posting this as I feel this is a marketable item, but I hesitate to try it due to the small market, and liability involved if some little kid got near it.
So, what would you guys pay for this knowing it works every bit as good as the hand crank mixers and cleans up in a minute? Labor was not bad but time consuming but I do have one guy already begging me for one and if I make one, i may make more but I cant do too many of these at work... so i would have to do it at home and that would require getting a different tank for my MIG welder for stainless.

Thank you for posting the vid. After looking at it, it might be in your best interest to put another ring around the top blades. Less of a liability and you won't scratch the sides of the bucket. I'll let Rich give you the spiel on the scratches in plastic. Lol. I think it's a great idea, just trying to help out.

        I already have one
so whats the problem with scratches in platic?
BTW, the 2 upper rows of blades are shorter a little to lessen the scratches

One of the biggest sources of "infection" in the home brewing world is those scratches in the ferment bucket. They harbor nasties.

I like the ring on the bottom- good design! Just remember about the scratches, and get a new bucket (food grade) once in a while.
