  • Help me with a kick ass banana pudding recipe

Ok, me and the other parental unit have been invited to our son's place for the fourth. I'm taking pulled pork and Cole slaw for Memphis. Style sanddwedges. But the esposa has axed for bananer pudding. One of the few thing I have never done. So... Help a brother out with a kick ass recipe,

I don't have a recipe but once you make your pudding fold in a small package of cool whip. It will make a lighter more flavorful pudding.

Banana pie in small cups. It has to have chunks of banana that is just almost too ripe. The ones that are almost all brown but still firm.

Other than that I have nothin.....

Goggle it. I found many. I remember one someone made, it was like a pie with vanilla wafers and toasted pecans on top and a drizzle of salted caramel. OMG.

Otherwise, I got nuthing! Col Klink!, we all remember that show....

I just saw this, and it is past the fourth...what did you wind up doing? I've heard tell that Emiril's recipe is the best. It looks like a bit of an undertaking but supposed to be well worth it. It's definitely in my food bucket list.

Whoa! Back the truck up here cause that sounds pretty damn tasty.

When I was a kid my mom made a nilla wafer banana pudding gig, and this nutter butter banana peanut butter gig sounds even better! I'm prolly gonna try this one.

Well, by Bob, that does sound good, but the wife warned me, "It has to be traditional". She knows I really like to experiment. So here is what I did whip up:
                          Banana Pudding IV

"A quick and easy banana pudding recipe - enjoy!"
                          Ingredients
                          • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
                          • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
                          • 1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
                          • 3 cups cold milk

                          • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
                          • 1 pint heavy whipping cream whipped with 4 tbsp. sugar
                          • 4 bananas, sliced
                          • 1/2 (12 ounce) package vanilla wafers
                          Directions
                          1. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in condensed milk, pudding mix, cold milk and vanilla until smooth. Fold in 1/2 of the whipped topping.
                          2. Line the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish with vanilla wafers. Arrange sliced bananas evenly over wafers. Spread with pudding mixture. Top with remaining whipped topping. Chill.

The original recipe I found called for Cool Whip, but I just kind of don't do all that artificial stuff made of emulsified oil and sugar etc. Instead I substituted heavy whipping cream. It made a 9X13 glass pan full to the brim. Must have weighed about 5 pounds. We had 11 people, including a 12 year old who announed, "I don't like banana pudding!" and then promptly proceeded to down three helpings. Once served, it lasted about 15 minutes and was totally gone. Everybody said it was good, I only got a small taste, being diabetic and all.
