  • Peanut Butter Sauce for Ice Cream

For the "Sundae Wednesday" event that I host at work, I always start us out with a couple of gallons of Ice cream and then a couple of homemade sauces. I always make the obligatory Chocolate Hot Fudge, and then have alternated between Caramel, A salted butterscotch, and for the last event I thought "Hey, nothing goes better with chocolate than peanut butter". So, I whipped up a peanut butter sauce...here is what it looked like.

    1/2 cup of butter

1 can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk (I don't know what this stuff is but I have to say I think I could just eat spoons of it out of the can ).

1/2 cup of smooth peanut butter

Add a teaspoon of vanilla and heat to combine all of the ingredients. I though it was still a little thick, so I added a few ounces of heavy whipping cream. Holy cow...this and the hot fudge were incredible. One lady at work made her sundae and walked off down the hall...she had to turn around and come back just to tell me how good it was. That made my day.

Now, I am going to have to get some bananas and make ice cream out of that, and drizzle that with the peanut butter sauce. OH MY!

WOW that sound amazing Dana! I like the cream at the end too - just the perfect kiss to complete the sauce.
If you have note tried this do it next week! : 1 can of that sweetened condensed milk - take off the label, toss it into a pot of boiling water boil it for 3 hours - making sure that the can has enough water to submerge it and the can never touches the bottom of the pan.
Remove the can from the water open and VIOLA, "Dulce De Leche" and this sauce can go on ice cream, toast, cakes... oh you name it... it's soon yum with ice cream! I hope you try it - I learned this method from an Argentine friend in high school.

Next week? Hell, I'm doing that tonight! I had 3 cans in the pantry so I'll be firing up a pot of this when I get home. I have never had this before, but can't wait to try it!
