  • Breakfast "HASH" Who's Got The Best?????

A lot like the mighty Bloody Mary, the "Breakfast Hash" is as much a part of a Northwest weekend breakfast as is things like.... rain/snow/sleet/wind/power outages/beer runs/neighbors dogs pooping in your yard, etc.....

Personally, I would take a "Hash" or "Scramble" over anything like that off a restaurant menu, over a #2 for example...

Ours are typically based on left over chopped up sausage, cooked bacon, beef, etc..... Mixed with (potatoes) hash browns, home fries, etc... eggs (scrambled or fried within the mess), cheese, cooked, peppers, mushrooms, onions, etc....

Cooked as it should be in order & smothered with cheese until the cheese melts, but don't forget aboot the broiler if your cooking gear can take it ( most can I think, it's only a couple minutes).... Under the broiler to get that cheese melted, OR in MY case until it gets good & bubbly with some dark crust on it ...... Yeah man, that's me & my oldest son's favorite breakfast.... What do Y'all like to do, use, etc...

              My favorite "Hash".
              Simple, but Awesome.
Just Bacon pieces fried up with crumbled up Shad Roe.
I could mix a lot of things with it, but I wouldn't want to take away the Bacon & Shad Roe flavor.

But I don't often eat breakfast.

Maybe I should start getting up in the middle of the night so I can start

My son makes this almost every weekend. In some form. He keeps it tame for the grandkids, but us adults kick it up with hotter salsa.

Brown a pound of your favorite breakfast sausage. When almost browned toss in a whole bag of these:

                  http://www.simplypotatoes.com/produc...ew.cfm?prid=35

When the potatoes are browned to your liking. Turn off the heat, spread 8 oz of cheese over it. Cover and let it melt. He usually uses mozz. but has used others too.

Top with your favorite chunky salsa and/or sour cream.

                      LOVES ME SOME HASH!!

This was pretty good - spare rib hash on BM#1 with an over easy egg.

But my most favorite hash has got to be that which is created in the man skillet while at the lake with my pard, or in the woods.. LET THERE BE HASH!

ok, I'm going on a Fridge run to rummage around trying to find some Hash fixins.
All of those recipes sound fantastic.

Didn't realize it had an official name. My wife says it looks like a mess.

My typical breakfast -- and Weight Watcher friendly too -- some of these shredded potatoes, let 'em brown for awhile, then some spinach leaves, sliced mushrooms, a generous topping of pico de gallo, and 2 egg whites and one whole egg beaten. After it's all cooked, plate then top with Chipotle Tobasco sauce.

Or if I'm not worried about points, 3 whole eggs and some meat. Usually chopped ham, but it has been known to have chopped brisket, pulled pork, even leftover chicken.

Good stuff and better when you just start grabbing tasty things to throw in the skillet.

We start with some of my Apple Molasses & Honey Bacon browned, three links of my Chorizo browned. Then three eggs with buttermilk, grated smoked white cheddar and morel shrooms in w/wine and rum - scrambled. Topped with Feta Cheese and sliced bananas. On a toasted flat bread with Monistary Creamed Honey!
