When I sealed them using my foodsaver i used the paper clip trick that is on the UMAi dry bag site - this was before I got the mouse strips. They have a forum on their website with tips and tricks for sealing as well.

does seem weird that they aren't at least putting a small embossed strip in - they must realise that 90% of the people who buy them won't have a vacumn chamber just normal vacsealer.

No kidding. So what is this "mouse"? Like a thin open cell foam thing? It must get sealed with the bag? I tried an embossed strip, but did not extend it to the seal area. Dunno if it'll seal 3 layers... maybe I'll try that for grins.

Bingo! I guess it WILL seal 3 layers. Man...love to source that osmotic plastic... these bags are a fortune.

Bet this method might work on Ziplocs too..

It looks like a little strip of dryer sheet. Actually i think it is a little strip of dryer sheet. The same material anyways, unscented

Hmm - I've got a shitload of chamber vac bags upstairs. Big uns and small ones.
No I can't use them. yes they were really really cheap and it did not state anywhere that they were for chamber sealers only.
Hence the rather large quantity and selection of sizes

So if I dismembered one normal bag to make embossed strips I could probably use the other bags. Hmm, that's got to be worth a try !

                          Have some ingenuity rich

I'm thinking that it is just a small piece of this stuff:

                            http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Yards-x-60...item1c3be36a14

Allows air to pass, but will melt and seal along with the bag?????

Might be worth a visit to your local fabric store.

Don't need the "sleeve"... only need the embossed side of the bag. And it does not need to be the full width of the bag to be sealed... I been using like 3" chunks on 8 inch or quart sized zips.
